Why Guests Love Our Amenities
When you’re searching for campground near Starved Rock with great amenities, you’re not just looking for a place to park or pitch a tent—you’re looking for a stay that feels easy once you’re back from the parks. That’s exactly what we aim for at Starved Rock Family Campground (SRFC): a comfortable home base in Utica, IL with the kind of onsite amenities that make the “in-between” moments (pool breaks, kid energy, dog walks, quick supplies) feel simple.
We’re less than 7 miles from Starved Rock State Park, so your days can be as big as you want them to be—then you can come back to camp and actually relax.
The amenities that shape your stay
Some amenities are nice-to-have. Others become part of the routine by the end of day one. Here are the ones our guests tend to love most.

Seasonal outdoor pool
On warm days, the pool is the easiest win on the property. It’s where kids reset after a morning out, where families cool off, and where afternoons slow down in the best way. It’s also a great “lighter day” plan when you want to stay closer to camp and still feel like you did something fun.
Playground
The playground is often the first stop after check-in and the last stop before dinner. It gives kids a place to burn energy and make fast friends—while parents get a few minutes to breathe (and maybe finish setting up without a “watch this!” every ten seconds).
Dog park
If you travel with a dog, you know how much a dedicated space matters. Our dog park gives pups a place to run, sniff, and settle in—so everyone’s campsite time feels calmer.
Walking paths and onsite trails
Not every outing needs to be a full production. Sometimes you just want to get outside for a quick loop. Our onsite walking paths make it easy to start the day with fresh air, take a sunset stroll, or fit in a simple hike without leaving the property.
Sand volleyball
This is the amenity that turns into “one more game.” It’s perfect for friend groups, families, and anyone who likes a little friendly competition between adventures.
The comfort-and-convenience amenities you’ll be grateful for
These are the amenities that don’t always make the “top 3” list—until you’re on day two and you realize how much they help.
Bathrooms and shower house (seasonal)
After a full day outside, a good shower can feel like the best part of the evening. Our bathrooms/shower house are available seasonally and closed during winter months.
Laundry
Whether you’re staying longer, traveling with kids, or just had one of those messy days, onsite laundry is a quiet hero. It’s one less reason to cut a trip short.

Camp store + check-in office
Our camp store is more than just “the basics.” It’s a well-stocked stop for essentials, snacks, and camping supplies—so if you forgot something, ran out of something, or just want something quick, you don’t have to turn it into a town trip. (Seasonal note: our office/store is closed Oct 31–Apr 1.)
Internet café (Wi-Fi available)
We have Wi-Fi available at our internet café, and we’ve added boosters throughout the campground to help you stay connected around the property—including at your campsite.
How to plan your stay around our amenities
If you want your trip to feel full but not hectic, we recommend building your days around a simple mix:
- Start with your “big outdoor day” (or two) using our Area Guide and Things to Do page.
- Leave space for the easy onsite wins: pool time, the playground, a dog park visit, and a short walk on our paths.
- Check Activities & Events before you arrive so you don’t miss the fun that’s already planned.
- Use Ways to Stay to choose the setup that fits your crew best—RV sites, tent sites, glamping, or cabin—then let the amenities support the rest of the trip.
